Day 3: Wednesday, May 10th, 2017-Kane County Cougars Stadium: Northwestern Medicine Field

Today, we ventured out West to Geneva to see the Class A Minor League Affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks play. It gave all of us tremendous perspective to see young men working hard towards their dreams of playing in Major League Baseball. The students' job today was to write a game story for the Kane County Cougars vs. the Great Lake Loons baseball game at 11am.

We all had seats directly behind the Cougars dugout, and the weather was a balmy 65 degrees for MOST of the game...that is, until the rains came in the middle of the 7th inning. The manager of the Cougars was ejected as umpire calls were a little suspect, and after a short rain delay, the game continued with the Cougars eventually losing to the Loons by a score of 8-3.

The students enjoyed the game, especially when they realized that Kyle Schwarber and Miguel Cabrera played minor league baseball for them. To see how far these athletes have come shows us how much energy and dedication must be spent fulfilling these dreams.

The kids enjoyed a great lunch at Houlihan's before heading back to the city. Let's see what game stories they come up with!!
